It premiered in 1989 and ran for five seasons, clocking up 95 episodes. The episode takes its name from a Quantum Leap first: Sam gazes into the mirror behind the mysterious, more-than-he-seems bartender (played to perfection by Bruce McGill ), sees his own reflection, and realizes he’s made his first-ever leap as himself rather than jumping, as he always had, into another person’s body. During a government experiment into time travel, a scientist finds himself trapped in the past, leaping into the bodies of different people on a regular. In the opening episode, Sam leaps into the body of a 1950s test pilot. He bets on Muhammad Ali beating George Foreman, helps a young Buddy Holly with the words to a song, leaps into a man who looks like Humphrey Bogart and advises a 12-year-old Donald Trump that investing in New York property would be a good way to get rich. Season one, a late-season replacement, consists of eight.
